Private coach hire to Download Festival from Birmingham is a vehicle and driver booked for your group only, to and from Donington Park at Castle Donington. It is not an official festival ticket, and it is not a seat on the festival's own coach programme. Those packages are sold as ticket-plus-travel. If you already have tickets, or you are moving a workplace, a university society or a school-leavers group, a private hire is the relevant product.
Download is usually held in June. The site is close to East Midlands Airport, roughly 45 to 70 minutes from Birmingham depending on where you start and on festival traffic, which is slower than a normal Thursday on the A42. Private hire and official coaches are different
Official Download coaches run to the festival's coach park on a published timetable, often with a ticket attached, and they are open to anyone who bought that package. A private hire is closed. You choose the pickup, the vehicle stays with your booking, and you agree the return. You still need valid festival entry. We do not sell the ticket.
Use private hire when the group must start together from a Birmingham office, a campus or two named stops, or when you are doing a day return that does not match the official timetable. Use the official product when you are happy to join a public departure from a city-centre or Birmingham International stop.

A day return after a late headliner is the job that breaks drivers' hours. The drive back to Birmingham is the smaller part. The larger part is several drop-offs after midnight at the end of a day that started at 8am. Tell us the latest you must leave the site. If one driver cannot legally cover it, the quote will include a relief driver or an earlier departure. We would rather say that at enquiry stage.
Camping luggage will not fit a seat plan
A 49-seat coach with 49 people and 49 tents does not work. Camping luggage is the difference between Download and an arena show at the NEC. People bring tents, sleeping bags, chairs, rucksacks and sometimes a cool box.
- Tell us the real number of large bags, not "just a bit of kit".
- If the group is camping, price a vehicle with hold space and fewer people than the seat count, or a trailer where the vehicle allows it.
- A minibus with a trailer suits a group of friends. A coach suits a larger group that can limit each person to one large bag in the hold and one small bag inside.
- Forbidden items are the festival's rules, not ours. We can still refuse anything unsafe to carry.
Pickups that make sense from the Midlands
Sensible patterns are a single city stop plus one other, not a tour of the West Midlands.
- Birmingham city centre for groups meeting at a station or an office.
- Birmingham International or the NEC campus for people coming in by train, and for east Birmingham.
- Solihull, Coventry or Wolverhampton as a second stop if that is where most of the group actually is.
Castle Donington is north-east of Birmingham. A pickup that starts in Wolverhampton, then Solihull, then Coventry is the long way round. Put the northern or eastern stop first.
Alcohol and behaviour
Alcohol is not allowed on board unless agreed in writing in advance. A festival outbound is when people most often assume it is included. It is not. The driver can refuse a passenger who is a risk to safety. Smoking and vaping are prohibited. None of that changes because the destination is a festival.

What a private hire will not do
We will not sell you a festival ticket, hold a place on the official coach, or drive the group around the site looking for a friend who has gone through a different gate. The festival controls its own roads and searches. If the site is slow, the arrival is slow. Book the time you need to be in the queue, not the time the band starts.
We also will not assume camping luggage fits because the seat count does. If you are unsure, send a photo of a typical person's kit. It is a better brief than "normal festival stuff". A workplace group with day bags is a different vehicle from a group of eight who are staying until Monday.

Do you sell Download tickets with the coach?
No. Private hire is the vehicle and driver for your group. Official ticket-and-coach packages are a separate product sold through the festival's own travel partner.
How long does Birmingham to Download take?
On a normal day, about 45 to 70 minutes to the Donington area. On arrival days, festival traffic on the A42 and the site roads is slower. Book the arrival you need, not the time a midweek map shows.
Can we bring tents?
Yes, if the vehicle and the passenger count allow. Say how many large items you have. A full coach of people each with a tent and a chair will not fit in the hold.
Can you pick up in Coventry or Wolverhampton as well as Birmingham?
Yes, as one extra stop. A long chain of pickups before a festival arrival makes you late and adds mileage. Ask us to price two vehicles if the group is split.
What if the headliner finishes after midnight?
Put that in the enquiry. A very late finish plus several Birmingham drop-offs can need a second driver. We will tell you before you book, not at the gate.
