Birmingham Takes After London, Introducing A ‘Clean Air Zone’ By 2020
Birmingham is flourishing into an eclectic, young and vibrant city. With the Commonwealth games taking place in 2022, new buildings being built, and the rail and metro services getting bigger and faster, Birmingham now takes after London with the arrival of a ‘Clean Air Zone.’
The government expects Birmingham along with many other UK cities to introduce a ‘Clean Air Zone’ by 2020. Mayor, Andy Street back the introduction of the CAZ which will see the enforcement of pollution charges to all vehicles entering Birmingham city centre and the surrounding area. He called the current situation ‘a public health crisis’ and has lent his full support to the scheme.
But how does it work you may ask, the city aims to target mostly larger vehicles therefore cars may not even feel the costs coming into force. However for transport companies like ourselves, those who are still using coaches and minibuses etc that do not comply with the new clean air regulations there may be some hefty fines coming into play.
The public are divided at the thought of CAZ coming into force but what do you think?
We want YOUR views on the new Clean Air Zone Policy coming to Birmingham, Birmingham is one of five cities outside of London that have been mandated by the Government to introduce a Clean Air Zone by January 2020.
